Welcome to our FAQ section! We understand that finding the right home health care services for you or your loved one can raise important questions. Below, we've answered some of the most common inquiries to help you better understand our services and how we can assist you.
1. Do you have to be on Medicaid to qualify?
Yes, our programs are currently only for Medicaid participants unless you want to pay out of pocket. If you don't have Medicaid but think you may be eligible, call the office at 314-716-3100 or 816-920-0555 for resources regarding enrolling in the program, or visit the link below to apply.

2. What if I have Medicare? And What's the difference between Medicare and Medicaid?
Currently, we do not accept Medicare. Medicaid is a state and federal program that provides health coverage for low-income people. Medicare is a federal program that provides health coverage for people 65 and older or with severe disabilities, regardless of income.
3. What if I have a spend-down?
No, problem. In some cases, you may qualify for our Medicaid spend-down program. Call today to find out 314-716-3100 or 816-920-0555
4. Will this program cost me anything?
This is a Medicaid-funded program; you will not pay anything.
5. Is it easy to switch my services to Family United Home Health Care?

7. Can I qualify for more than one service?
Example; Can I receive Consumer directed services and adult day care?
Yes, as a matter of fact, most of our clients are enrolled in dural programs to make sure all their needs are being met.
8. Will you reimburse my travel cost and mileage for my caregiver?
No, not at this time.
9. How will the caregiver's hours and time be tracked?
We have a special app for caregivers, so you can clock in and out on your phone. No paperwork, no timesheets — it’s fast and simple.
10. Do you have any caregiver benefits?
Yes, Family United's caregivers get on-time pay (we’ve never missed a payment!), direct deposit, paid sick time,holiday pay overtime, paid family leave (if eligible), and disability (if eligible).
11. How often will the caregiver be paid?
The 15th and 30th.
12. What are all the services that Family United Home Health Care offers?
In Home Services:
Personal Care – Help with everyday tasks like bathing, grooming, and meals
Homemaking Services – Light housekeeping, laundry, and other household tasks
Respite Care – Short-term relief for primary caregivers
Healthy Children in Youth Program (HCY)– Personal care services for Medicaid members under 21
Transportation Services – Shopping, banking, church, and other errands
Consumer Directed Services:
Personal Care, which includes but is not limited to:
Personal Care – bathing, grooming, dressing, personal hygiene
Toileting – ostomy or catheter hygiene; bowel and/or bladder routine; general toileting activities
Health – use of transfer devices/mobility issues/prostheses, passive range of motion, manual assistance with medications, treatments, cleaning and maintenance of equipment
Housekeeping – cleaning, dusting, bed linens, laundry, trash
Meals – meal preparation and/or assistance with eating, washing dishes
Transportation – essential shopping/errands, school or employment
Independent Living Waiver (ILW) – this program offers additional services beyond the limitations of the Consumer Directed State Plan Personal Care program to a limited number of eligible consumers. ILW services include case management, personal care, environmental accessibility adaptations and specialized medical equipment and supplies.
Adult Day Care Services:
Adult Day Care Programs provide a structured program of therapeutic, rehabilitative, social and leisure activities in a monitored setting. The programs offer supportive services to the participant, as well as to the family, by providing care and supervision in a protective environment during the day. Free transportain is provided.
13. Do you offer Nursing Services?
Yes, we have a team of health care professionals such as CNA's, LPN's, and RN's who can provide medication set-ups, respite services, monitoring, etc.
CDS FAQ's
1. Who can work for me in the CDS program?
Your son, daughter, grandchild, relative, friend or existing home attendant — anyone except your
• Legal spouse
• Designated representative (the person who makes home care decisions for you)
• Parent (if you are under 21).
2. Can my worker and I live in the same house?
Yes! Clients and caregivers can reside in the same home.
3. What is Consumer Directed Services (CDS)?
Consumer Directed Services (CDS) is a program that is available in certain states that allows you to have someone you already know, love, and trust get paid to support you.
